Chinoiserie

Finally I am painting again! I have been working so much at my day job, that I have had NO time to actually paint for fun. So I have to decided to start a Chinoiserie piece. A client of ours at Artistic Finishes had come asking for her dining room to be faux painted. She was wanting a De Gourney-Chinoiserie wallpaper actually painted on the wall. She decided to go with just the background of the paper. But I thought after seeing the beautiful paper.....hey. I might just do that on canvas! Chinoiserie is a french term for "Chinese-esque". It has been around in Europe since the 17th century as an artistic style. Here are a few pictures of the beginning phase and layout. It will take a while longer and much more detail (birds and things). Inspiration is a funny thing...it seems to come out of nowhere and just HIT like a ton of bricks. I am glad to be inspired again...My soul is craving the painting time!!!!

I just thought you all might like to see:)

Enjoy!

I love sitting next to you when you get all inspired. :-) I remember you sketching this the other morning. I love being inspired too, and in fact, my writing exercise tomorrow entails some of that; writing when we aren't inspired. Stay tuned. :-) Love ya and it was good to see you this evening.
