New Piece-Turtle

Here is a new piece that I worked on today. I have a little more tweaking to do on it.

I was at the pool the other night with a friend of mine. Her son likes to bob in the water, not swim. He goes under for long periods of time and then shows up in a completely different part of the pool. Just like a turtle. I know how that feels. The sound, when you submerge yourself under water is sooo peaceful. And that feeling of being weightless, yet snuggled in the pressure of the water is comforting.

So....get your goggles and swim suit, find a pool.....and just bob.
Enjoy!

Huntsville Times article

Friday I was featured in the Huntsville Times. For those who are not from around here, that is our local metro newspaper. Gina Hurst from the Huntsville Art Blog http://huntsvilleartblog.blogspot.com/ introduced me to Kay Campbell, the editor for the Faith and Values section. She is a great girl who always seems to find regular everyday people who have inspiring stories to tell. She asked me to do this article. I was blessed to be able to do it and to share my experience, strength and hope. Talk about a leap of faith....it's scary to put your REAL self, the good, the bad and the ugly, out there. Thanks Kay for all that you did in helping to get my story out. And thanks Gina for believing that is was worthy.
Below is the article along with a link so that you all can read it too.

Enjoy!

Next Interpretation Painting

My favorite type of painting is personal interpretation portraits. I like to learn about someone (i.e. their likes, dislikes, character etc.) and then put together a still life that reflects and describes who they are. It is nice to see the reaction on someones face when you give them a painting that reflects how they are seen to the outside world.
So, with that being said....here is the next. This is all you get. This one is for my friend Alissa at http://www.averagetoart.com/. I can't show anymore because she sees this site, I don't want to give it away and she IS my boss (cheesy smile here).

Monrovia Art Fest

The Art Fest was beautiful. Here are a few pictures that my friend Shiney Leigh http://fencepostings.wordpress.com/ took while she was there. You can readand see more at her site. She is a wonderful writer and photographer.

I loved having the children come up and be interested in painting. This little girl...I think her name was Marianna...wanted to learn soooo bad. She actually stood listened and added a little character to a small piece I was creating. I loved her enthusiasm! And isn't she just the cutest thing you have ever seen? She reminded me so much of my daughter at that age. In a perfect world, I would be teaching everyday. I love that part of painting.

New Piece

So here is what I have been working on.....
My friend Rhonda and her family have a huge 4th of July party every year. Now when I say huge...I mean HUGE! Hot air balloon rides, plane rides, swimming, cookout, music and of course the ever-popular ZIP LINE!!!! I love that part! Anyway, this is the 45th year of the family's get together and they have asked me to do a painting for the invitations. YEAH! So Rhonda gave me the task of creating a real boy out of a bronze statue they have on the property. Violla! I have to get it to her tomorrow. So I hope they like it. I REALLY enjoyed doing it for them. That is the best part of art ......giving someone something special.

Here is a picture of the statue and the painting.
