The Path

This is a large abstract that I did on my last painting frenzy. It is called the path. For me the poor little egg is on a journey from the dark to the light. I was talking with a friend today about being "broken". I said that I don't like to refer to anyone as being broken. But yet, they are clouded by circumstances or surroundings or what have you and they are just having a hard time seeing their God. But, as I look back on this painting I see a broken egg. So this leaves me a little confused in my thoughts of being broken. I guess that it doesn't really matter whether I am confused or not. What matters is that I am thinking about my God and exploring thoughts of him. MMMMMM......good day for thinking. Thanks Heather for inspiring me today.

Mural is done and up!

Well guys I got it done. I decided to NOT to put people on the streets. Only because time was running out. Thanks to all of you who sent in a response. I really appreciate the feedback.

The mural was put up on Tues and my boss was pleased. What more could a girl ask for.....another mural perhaps? I think I have the "big painting" bug. It was really fun painting on that large of a scale. 4ft X 8ft. I feel the need to paint another. Maybe a garden....hmmmm..thoughts are coming....gotta go!

Enjoy!

Great night for a "Stroll"

It was a great night for the Huntsville Art Stroll. The air was crisp and cool and everyone seemed to be out enjoying the evening. Lots of smiles on people's faces. I love seeing that! Here is a picture that my friend Carol from Color Me Huntsville http://blog.al.com/color-me-huntsville/ and Alabama Improper http://alabamaimproper.com/ took. Thanks Carol for stopping by, it was great seeing you. If you all have time to check out Carol's new site please do. She now has a column through Al.com called Color Me Huntsville. It gives reviews and information on upcoming art events in the Huntsville area. The great thing is that it is NOT just about visual art. It is arts of all kinds. Yeah! I am very proud of her. She is doing a great job!

And thanks to everyone who bought a painting last night. I hope that you all enjoy your new pieces!

Hope to see you all again at the next "stroll" on July 17th.

Enjoy!

p.s. that is my sweet hubby with the camera. He is a wonderful photographer, so when ever we are at events like this you will find him in his tie-dye with a camera around his neck. I think he is whipping a tear away from seeing a beautiful picture walk by....hmmmmm. Thank you sweetie for all the help this past week:)

Inspired

Well the trip is over and I was so excited to get back to the studio. I have been painting since 4:30 this morning! I know.....a little crazy. But when you gotta paint....you gotta paint.

So here are 2 of the new pieces that I did today. They are a new series that I am starting. When I first started painting, I used to draw eggs all the time. So I decided to go back to the beginning and let loose. Here is what came out.

Highlight of the day!

I can't even begin to describe our day yesterday. Let's just say that it was the biggest buffet of art I have indulged in. And it is like Chinese food.....you think you are full.....but a few minutes later you are famished for more!!!!

I got to meet a few of the artist I like from Asheville like Genie Maples http://www.geniemaples.com/ . She has a beautiful studio and wonderful popsicles. Thanks Genie for sharing you time with my me and my husband:)

The highlight of the day was meeting Jonas Gerard http://www.jonasgerard.com/index.htm . This man is out there! And so inspiring. When he does a show or a performance....he does it BIG as only Jonas could. Thanks for sharing your time with us Jonas.

Enjoy the pics!

Average To Art in the Madison Spirit!

Average To Art, the company that I work for, was in the news on Tues. The picture is Alissa Murnane, the owner, talking with a client about a new project we are going to do. Now... I could go in to complete detail and tell you about the article. Or.... you can click on the link above and read it for yourself.
Congradulations Alissa!
And thank you Gregg Parker for writing the article. You rock

Goodbye boat

You know, when I do a painting I sometimes get very attached to it. This is one of those paintings. As I told you all the other day, I have put some of my art down at Richard Cable Interiors http://www.richardcableinteriors.com/. I did not expect for one to be sold so quickly. NOW don't get me wrong...I am NOT complaining. Usually I sell my work to the person face-to-face. So it was a little different leaving it at the store and then someone took it home that I hadn't seen. I just didn't know that I was going to miss the boat. Not literally,Ha!
But this painting has left me with a day full of memories and sweet Caribbean music. I hope that who ever bought it enjoys it for many years to come. Thank you!

Mimosa

An afternoon in the south with your girlfriend, a garden, and a couple of mimosas. I like the idea of it. But, as you all know by now, I sure didn't drink this way. That gives me a great idea. I will paint a picture of what a southern alcoholic's afternoon like this would look like. Then we can compare the two:) I can tell you right now....there won't be any pretty glasses, fancy salads or food of any kind for that matter. I have a feeling, from what I can remember of those days, that it involved lots and lots of silver cans.

Anyway, back to the scene....grab a friend,a garden and maybe a glass of lemonade...an enjoy the summer. It will be over sooner than you think.

Enjoy!

The Path

"The Path" 5"x7" watercolor on board
By Michele Lee Copyright 2008

Here is a new piece I worked on this weekend. I still have a little more tweeking to do. But I thought you all might enjoy it. I love gardens and pathways. Usually when I am not painting I am in my yard playing in the garden. Now, this is not my path, but it is what I would like to accomplish one day.

Do you have a special spot in your garde that you love? If so, I would love to see it. Send me a picture. And tell me why you love your spot.

If you don't have a special spot. Get yourself a cup of coffee, a good book and come on in and have a seat. This path can be yours for the day.

Enjoy!

New Opportunity

Did I say "No expectations"? I did didn't I? It is amazing how things work out when you have NO clue they are coming!

I have just received a wonderful opportunity to sell my art. Richard Cable Interiors, http://www.richardcableinteriors.com/ , in our newest shopping center here in Huntsville ,called Bridgestreet, has asked me to put some pieces in his store. Of course I accepted with a bit of glee!

I took a few pieces down the other day. And they are now for sale in the store. It is such a beautiful store too. If you haven't been yet....GO! Especially now..(wink wink) The link is located above.

Thanks Alissa for being MY assistant for the day. Fun change up...since you ARE my boss.

And a BIG thank you to Richard, Brian, and Kelly. You guys ROCK!!! Thanks for giving me such a wonderful outlet for my art. All the best of luck to you.

Enjoy!

New Job!

Well, I said at the beginning of this blog, that "this year was going to be about art, with NO expectations". So far this year is turning out to be more full and rich than I could have ever expected.

I am officially employed now. With a wonderful company called Average To Art http://www.averagetoart.com/ They do decorative finishes and wall murals. The best part is that I have a GREAT boss, Alissa, who I do believe is my long lost sister :) The company feels like home and I get paid to do what I love..paint.

The company has now expanded and moved to a new location. Here is a picture of the ribbon cutting ceremony. There was a huge turn out. Even the Mayor of Huntsville, Loretta Spencer, came out. What a blessed day!

Enjoy!
