Today at the Flying Monkey

Saturday - 21st - Artist Market, Admission FREE (Noon - 4pm)Local artists and others are invited to set up a booth at the Flying Monkey Arts Center and sell their wares to the public. There will be art, jewelry, vintage clothing, records, and more interesting things for sale inside our facility - safe from rain.

The Alabama Cigar Box Guitar Extravaganza 2008, Admission $10 (2pm)"Songs Inside The Box" a documentary by Max Shores with footage shot at last year's event will be shown at 2pmThis year's line-up includes performances beginning at 4pm by Buckeye, One-String Willie, Gerry Thompson, The Vickroids, John Lowe, Tomi-O, Microwave Dave, and Ben Prestage.6 PM: Weedwacker Bass workshop with Wichita Sam ($20)BUILDER'S CONTEST sign-up from noon till 4pm. ($5 per entry) RULES: Open to all homemade (not from kit) cigar box instruments, acoustic or electric. All entries must incorporate a commercial cigar box in it's construction, and be capable of producing a musical sound of some sort. Prizes awarded for Best Craftsmanship, Most Creative Use of Materials, and Most Unique Design. 8 PM: Builder's Contest Winners Announced
