Sauna House

Not much time to paint right now. The children are starting back to school next week, so I have been spending time getting them ready, running them to friends houses for their last big sleep overs, and generally busy with life.
So here is a piece that I started on vacation. It is the Sauna House at the resort we stayed in Orlando. It was so beautiful. At some time every day we would get our suits on and sit down at the pool next to this building. The water poured from the top of the Sauna House into the pool and everyone who was in there at the time would swim over and sit under the waterfall at some point. So of course I had to capture it:) It still has a lot more work to be done. But I thought you might enjoy seeing it in progress.
Enjoy!

New watercolor

Not the best picture in the world. This is a water color that I was playing with at the last Art Stroll in Huntsville. The River radio station has their van parked right behind me, so we get to listen to all the good oldie music! I thought it might be fun to capture it. So...ta da...here ya go! I finished it up on our trip to Orlando. Which I might say was one of THE BEST vacations our family has had in a long time. The kids were wonderful....but they are growing up so FAST! Not many more vacations will be had, where they want to hang out with us and do things together. So we really took advantage of this time. What a blessing to be able to have this little blip of time with them.

Gotto go for now and catch up on home and work things. WHEW! A few more paintings coming up from the vacation soon...keep your eyes open....
Enjoy!

On the last big blow out!

Well,we are on the last big blowout vacation of the summer before school starts. Thanks to my sweet parents who are letting us use their time-share. Thanks Mom and Dad....we are truly grateful. This is giving us time with all of our children. They are growing up so fast! Before too long...they won't want to vacation with mom and dad. So for the end of this summer we are hitting Orlando with a bang! It was so fun yesterday, watching them swim, play and meet new friends. All the while, still wanting to hang around us. They are the best. And I am so blessed to have them. Today we are off to Universal. YEAH! Today, I am sure, will be full of roller coasters and walking;)

I won't be painting this week, and my posts may be a little sparse. There is just too much fun to be had with the kids:) I will post a few shots of the trip though:)

Enjoy your week as well. And don't forget to soak in all those precious moments that life has to offer. No matter how big or small.

Commission Piece

Here is a commission piece that was done for a family's bonus room. They wanted the pattern of their accent fabric in a painting. So I did a large wrapped canvas with symbols, from their past, hidden in it. I love doing paintings that are personal like this. And I really like hiding things in them.

A great big thank you to the Simmons for giving me this opportunity. That was fun!

Goodbye "Sushi" / Hello tomatos

Well we are back from the beach. What a wonderful trip! When we returned I found out that one (actally 2)of my paintings had sold. "Sushi" was one of them. I then got an e-mail from the girl who bought the painting. She purchased it for herself for her birthday. What a wonderful gift. I love it when my art can touch someone. Art should do that. It should call to you and attach itself to you. That way, it becomes part of you.

So a great big THANK YOU and HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to Nicole....Enjoy your "Sushi".

Our tomato plants seemed to have a GREAT time while we were gone! They yielded 3 DOZEN beatifully red, ripe tomatos. YUM! I guess I am going to have to make the neighborhood rounds as the "crazy painting tomato lady".......HEY, I kinda like that description of me.

Here is a picture...ENJOY!

The Food, the Food!

One of the best things about the beach is the FOOD! The shrimp are HUGE here. The other great thing is cooking with my husband. We rarely get to do this, and it is one of our small
passions.

The house we are staying in has this massive counter top in the kitchen. So we can stand side by side without running in to each other:) So he reads the directions and give me the orders on what to do....and then I cut and chop and saute and bake...and for some reason he still calls me the Sui Chef?!? Hmmmmm there seems to be a little confusion in the ranks here.

Here is a picture of the shrimp, tomato and watermelon salad we made last night...YUM!

Enjoy!

Off To the Beach

My sweet hubby is taking me to the BEACH! I love him! This is a picture that he took on our trip to Key West last year. Isn't it beautiful?
We are not going that far this time. But I am looking forward to the inspiration found standing on the edge of the ocean. It always seems to change the way I look at things. Life becomes a little brighter and so do my paintings.
Can't wait to see what comes out of this trip;)

Dedication of the Epps "Flyboy" painting

Last night my husband and I were invited by our sweet friend Rhonda, to attend the Epps family dinner. The painting that Rhonda had commissioned me to do a while back, entitled "Flyboy"was dedicated to George and his brothers and sisters. They have played a huge part in the history of this country within the airplane industry. I was amazed to hear the path that this family has taken in order to achieve so many great things. It really helped me to see what family is all about. I am so very happy for them, and so blessed to have been a part of the 43rd annual event. It was a beautiful evening and I really think that they were pleased with the painting.
Thank you Rhonda for asking me to be a part of the Epps history. I am blessed to have a friend like you. And thank you to George and Dot Epps for welcoming Greg and I into your family last night with such open arms.
Enjoy!
