Oysters on the Half Shell

Well our dinner last night must have inspired this one. There is one food that is a must have when coming to the beach....OYSTERS! I love love love them. They are always a treat. So we gathered around like wild boars as the waitress placed them on the table. You would have thought we hadn't eaten for days. LOL Needless to say the oysters were gone in a matter of minutes. Having 3 teenage boys with us, it is hard to have any food around for more than a few minutes. :)

Enjoy!

Hot Pink Lady

Hot Pink Lady

Woke up this morning wanting to paint.
When we checked in to our beach house the other day we were greeted by a 3 foot tall pink flamingo. Statue...not real. LOL For some reason I am always attracted to flamingos. You know the kind you see in souvenir shops with the colorful glasses on or the wobbly heads. There is something about the whimsical nature of them. I guess they are so out of the ordinary and REALLY not the norm. Maybe that is the attraction. Or maybe it is my ego that says, "look at me ...I am different". Who knows. I do know that I am always and forever a sucker for pink. Like the color of my skin right now. (note to self: on first day at beach...put on some sunscreen) I have officially gotten my first sunburn of the season. OUCH! That may be the inspiration for painting the "Hot Pink Lady". LOL

I have also started a painting of oysters, yum, I will post that later.

Enjoy!

Tree of Burning Dreams

Tree of Burning Dreams
By Michele Lee

I've decided to paint in a little different style today. Searching my thoughts and mind for memories, I came up with the "Tree of Burning Dreams".

I had done a pouring on a blank canvas about a week ago and brought it with me to paint this week. As I sat down and looked at the background wash, I started to see the tree.

Years ago I took a trip to Turkey. There was one place I visited that had all of these large olive trees with little white ribbons tied on to them. I asked the guide what they were and she said, "Oh those are prayer ribbons". I found it fascinating that people from all over had hiked up these same hills and paths, said a prayer then tied a white ribbon to the trees. Ribbons were hung on branches low to the ground and way up high out of reach. They were all dancing in the breeze like a beautiful ballet.

I have also seen prayer flags in Asian countries. They are hung by string all over the place and actually have a prayer written on them.

I always wondered....what would happen if there was a fire? I am quite sure the prayer would stay but the little ribbons or flags would simply burn away. Sad.

So here is the Tree that came out of those memories.

Enjoy.

Time to stop and smell the Oleander....

I will be off this week, LOL, well I'm always a little off. But I will be gone this week to spend some much needed time with the family. Between illness, shows and work....my body needs a little break. And I miss my family something terrible! I have brought some canvases for fun painting. So I will post them....IF....time allows:) I am going to try, and I do mean try, to slow down for a week. Those who know me well know that this is a BIG task for me. I am usually going 100mph all the time. I guess I think since I was lost for so long that maybe I am going to miss something. I have seen that by going soooo fast I am missing a lot! So I will try to live in the moment of each day. Each moment is filled with it's own smell, feel and scenery. To stop long enough to experience each one of theses is a treat. So I will try to stop, smell the oleander, feel the ocean breeze and see all that is in front of me.

Have a great week and enjoy,

Michele
