HAPPY 2010!

Last painting sold of 2009.
Thank you Jo...I hope that it brings much joy and laughter into your home.

Happy 2010 to you all! 2009 has been an incredible year. I thought I would share a little recap of the year here at A Year of Art. In January I started the 2nd year of Year of Art. With that came the start of a new company called Artistic Finishes Studio. http://www.artisticfinishesstudio.com/
I partnered up with another great artist and faux finisher in the area and gave it a whirl. The year exceeded my wildest beliefs and imagination! I have been so blessed to have found wonderful clients, lots of work, many commissions and some great shops to carry my painting in during this last year despite the state of our economics. There were just a few art shows and festivals that I attended this year, mainly due to the rapidly growing business. Health issues have begun to slow me down a bit this year. I am finding...SLOWLY....a balance beginning to emerge. I learned lots of lessons this year when it comes to art. But I think the most important of all was to Romance the Canvas. This lesson alone has taken my painting from being just paint on canvas to a complete spiritual experience.
I have met some incredible artists along the way this year. Not all, but most are listed to the right of this page to be shared with you.
My family has had to put up with a lot from me this year as well. Either with me being gone to the job site, lost in a painting or gone to a meeting to keep up with my recovery. (I am in my 6th year ...yea!) They have had to live a year essentially without me around much. Luckily my GREAT husband has stepped in and taken charge. Thank you for that Greg. You are a blessing. And thank you kids for doing such a GREAT job in school and in life this year. You all are my heart and my life....YOU ROCK!
So there you have it...A Year of Art 2009 in a nut shell. Boy, writing it down and looking at it in black and white really helps me to see things clearly. Life goes by so very fast.
I hope that you all have had blessed years as well. With 2010 there comes a new chapter...a new start...what will you begin this year?
I say, look at what you loved as a child or young adult. Look for that desire/hobby and take a running start.....then JUMP!...(eyes closed if needed)...into that world of passion and creativity. There is nothing better for the soul than to create, to built or to simply accomplish and concur a new goal.
Stay blessed,
Michele

Hey! Happy New Year to your and all your family Michele!!! Love the post on "Romancing the Canvas", that sounds like a great idea, hope to try it soon! Love Andy's portrait, it is awesome, I bet Fasha was gaga over it. Enjoyed getting a review of your year, very interesting, sounds like you are doing very well with where you are! I have been unable to work on the latest zentangle as much as I would like due to alot of work this week at the new job, taking down Christmas, feeling a bit under the weather and just plain tired!!! But your romancing the canvas reminds me of my preparing for the zentangles lately, getting ideas going through my head of how I want to treat some of the personal info, designs that I want to incorporate in it and items I see around me that trip off a new design that I TRY to store in my brain till I get to the paper! I have lots of those filed and a good start already. Catch you later!
